Key Responsibilities:

- Creative Vision & Execution Leadership: Collaborate with the Art Director to develop compelling VFX concepts, guide the team in creating and refining VFX assets that enhance the game's atmosphere and storytelling, and ensure alignment with the dark fantasy aesthetic.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Oversee, mentor, and inspire the internal VFX team, fostering a collaborative and creative environment, and ensuring efficient workflows and problem-solving.
- Management of External VFX Agencies: Manage relationships with external VFX agencies, providing clear briefs, overseeing their work, and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.
- Technical Direction & Optimization: Direct the team in utilizing industry-standard software (including Unreal Engine and Niagara), ensuring a strong understanding of rendering, lighting, and physics principles to achieve optimal visual results and performance across platforms.
- Artistic Alignment & Quality Assurance: Ensure all VFX work adheres to established Art Direction guidelines, maintaining visual consistency, providing constructive feedback on elements like colour and timing, and elevating the overall quality of the project.
- Cross-functional Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other departments (Art, Animation, Design, Engineering, Audio, Production) to ensure seamless integration of VFX and contribute to a cohesive game experience.
Key Requirements:
- At least 5 years experience as a real-time VFX Artist for AA+ games, with experience in a leadership role preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine and Niagara for visual effects creation.
- Understanding of relevant software and tools (Houdini, Embergen, Photoshop, Substance Designer, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to overcome technical challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective cross-discipline collaboration.
- A passion for games and a keen interest in the gaming industry.
Bonus points for:
- Technical knowledge of rendering, lighting, and physics.
- Experience developing VFX for Action-RPG games.
- Knowledge of destruction animation.

Recruitment Process:
- Once our Talent Acquisition team receives your application, together with the hiring team, we will review your CV, portfolio and the answers you provided in the application form and if all the boxes are ticked, we're moving to the next stage.
- Initial call with Talent Acquisition Specialist - During this call you'll learn about the company and we learn about you. We'll talk about your experience & expectations with working in a fully remote environment and we'll talk about your expertise. We'll finish this call with some admin questions. There will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions as well.
- After the initial call, usually 1 or 2 interviews with the hiring team follows. These interviews will be a bit more technical and will go deeper into your experience, skills & knowledge. As you would have signed an NDA by now, you'll also learn a bit more about the project you would work on. During these interviews we'll also focus on finding out whether you're a good fit for our company culture and that we share the same values.
- We may or may not ask you to do the test - this is decided on an individual basis and you will receive instructions with the test.
- If everything goes well, the last step in the recruitment process is the offer presentation call with the Talent Acquisition Specialist and your future line manager to discuss the offer and next steps to get you successfully on board.
